Customer Harassment Prevention Policy

The Tottori Prefectural International Exchange Foundation (“TPIEF” hereafter) willingly accepts feedback and requests from patrons and collaborators (“users” hereafter) and strives to maintain trust and meet expectations in all undertakings. User feedback is essential for improving the quality of our services.
In certain incidents, however, user behaviour exceeds the limits of social norms. Such incidents injure the dignity of our staff, worsen the working environment, and negatively affect the provision of our services.

Our definition of customer harassment as “user behaviour exceeding socially acceptable boundaries and injurious to staff or working environment.”

The following are considered customer harassment:

  •  Unreasonable requests or those unrelated to TPIEF projects
  •  Demands exceeding the scope of our projected activities
  •  Requests difficult or impossible to fulfil
  •  Unjust claims for damages
  •  Physical attacks (injury, assault, etc.)
  •  Psychological attacks (threats, slander, defamation, insults, verbal abuse, forced prostration, etc.)
  •  Intimidation
  •  Persistent coercion
  •  Workplace interference (refusal to leave, confinement, etc.)

The above is not a comprehensive list.

User actions determined to constitute customer harassment will be met with appropriate measures to protect our staff, including suspension of services. Criminal behaviour including assault, injury, or threat will be reported to law enforcement.

TPIEF provides care to employees affected by customer harassment as well as training and consultation for the purpose of preventing customer harassment.
